SAVI Materials License

What does a SAVI Materials License do for me?

The SAVI Materials License is a way to purchase SAVI materials at a substantial discount from retail, and to be able to reproduce those materials without additional permission.  Subject to paying the per use fee, the License gives you full rights to use the intellectual property and specified CORE copyrighted SAVI materials.  These include:

  • SAVIGRIDs;
  • SAVI Definitions;
  • Introduction to SAVI theory paper; and
  • Template for the Basic SAVI Workshop Manual with concepts, strategies and skill sessions to undo alerts, and exercises to increase behavioral flexibility.

This license also allows you resell materials at a profit.

Fee’s for the License:

  • Annual Fee:   $500 (Unless you are a Certified SAVI Trainer)
  • Per Use Fee:  $10 per participant per event for use of specified materials – grids, definitions, ec..

Certified SAVI Trainers automatically qualify for a Materials License.  The Annual Fee  (but not the Per Use Fee) is waived for SAVI Trainers.)

Re-selling SAVI materials

If I have a Materials License, and I’ve paid the Licensing Materials fees for a certain number of  clients, can I re-sell the SAVI materials to those clients at a profit?

Yes, with a license, you can resell materials to your clients at more than you pay for them from SAVI.

Modifying SAVI materials

Can I modify the content of the SAVIGRID or Definitions slightly to fit the specific context in which I am using them?

No.

May I adapt or change existing SAVI materials to suit my own clients or students?

No  for “CORE" SAVI materials, including:

  • The Grid,
  • The Definitions, and
  • The Introduction to SAVI paper.

The copyright and trademarks must be shown as on the “original” materials.

Can I modify the content of the Template for the SAVI Workshop Materials including skills sessions

  • With a SAVI Trainer’s Certificate?:   Yes
  • Without a Trainer's Certificate, but with a Materials License?:   YES, but only in the context you are working with your specific clients (e.g. putting in doctor-patient examples in a medical context).

Once you have completed Module II of the Trainer’s Certificate Program, you may purchase and use the unmodified  workbook for use with your clients or students

Can I develop new materials for use in our contexts?

With a Materials License:

Yes. If you work directly with Anita Simon, substantively new materials based on SAVI,  may be  developed.

The final product must be approved in writing and the copyright becomes a joint property of yourself and Anita Simon. The fee, if these products are to be sold, is to be negotiated before the beginning of development. Neither SAVI nor Anita Simon, nor Yvonne Agazarian nor their delegates bear fiscal responsibility for any development costs of the new materials you wish to develop.

The SAVI trademark remains with Anita Simon and Yvonne Agazarian (or their delegate(s))

Can I be listed as an “author” of new SAVI materials I help develop?

With  Materials License you may be listed as a co-author along with “authors” of the original SAVI materials from which you drew your information.   For Further questions, contact Anita Simon.

Translation of Materials into my native language.

May I make written translations of existing SAVI materials into my own language?

Yes, if you obtain written permission from Anita Simon, and have had the requisite SAVI training: completion of Level I for the Grid, and Level II for all else.

How do I request permission to translate the Grid into another language:

    1. Translate the Grid from English into your native language
    2. When you believe the translation is accurate, give the “new” (translated) grid to two people who do not know SAVI, but  speak both languages.  Ask them to translate the new words on the grid back into English.
    3. Send both people’s “translations into English”  to Anita Simon along with a copy of the new “translated” grid.

The translation must bear the tag line “derived and adapted with permission of the authors” and bear the copyright and trademark that was on the original material.

Your translated version of the materials may be used in lieu of the English version, but sales proceeds amounting to either the license Usage fees, or the materials fees listed on the SAVI website, are owing to the owner(s) of the copyright.

A final copy of the translated material must be sent to Anita Simon and remains the property of Anita Simon.

Can I purchase copies of materials translated into a foreign language as these become available?

Yes. If you want to buy already translated materials, you can either:

  1. Go to www.SAVICommunications.com and when these become available, you may buy any translations listed there at the regular cost plus an additional 20% which goes to the original translator; or
  2. You can approach the licensed person/company who has completed an approved SAVI translation and they can sell you the translation at the  SAVI standard retail value plus an additional 20% to cover the cost of their work).

Any use of SAVI, even use by the translator, must be paid for at the same rate as would be paid for the original English version at the prices listed on the SAVI website.

Can I have exclusive rights to the translation I make into my native language.

No.  Anyone who chooses can translate SAVI materials into their native language, if they follow the requirements and payments due, see  above.

You may add and keep  a 20% fee to the standard selling price for materials you have translated, to cover your costs.
